Wax Intel User Guide

Everything you need to track prices, research releases, collaborate with your team, and push listings to your store.

🏠 Overview

Wax Intel is a sports card price tracking dashboard. It pulls live prices from multiple retailers so you can see the market at a glance without visiting each site separately.

The app is organized into tabs across the top: Current Prices, Research, Release Calendar, and Admin (subscribers only). The header also provides quick access to Store Settings and this Help guide.

💰 Current Prices

The main tab. Shows every product your team is tracking with the latest price from each retailer.

Reading the price table

  • Highlighted price — the current lowest price across all retailers.
  • Grayed price — retailer has the product but not at the best price.
  • — (dash) — retailer doesn't currently list this product.

Refreshing prices

Prices are cached. To get the latest numbers, click the refresh icon on that row. The app checks each retailer one at a time.

Slow retailer? During a refresh you'll see which site is being checked. Hit Skip to move on to the next one.

Searching

Use the search bar at the top to filter the product list by name or UPC. Results narrow as you type.

Pinning products

Click the pin icon on any product to add it to your personal pin list. Pinned products appear as chips below the tab bar for instant access.

🔍 Research

Look up any product — even ones not in your tracked list — to check current prices and gather information before buying.

How to use it

  1. Type a product name in the search bar and press Search.
  2. The app checks all retailers and returns current prices.
  3. Use the action buttons below the result to dig deeper.

eBay results showing wrong items? Shorten the name to the key product identifier (e.g. "2025 Topps Chrome Baseball Hobby") for cleaner results.

📅 Release Calendar

Shows upcoming and past card set releases, cross-referenced from multiple sources for accuracy.

Desktop layout

On desktop the calendar shows as a monthly grid on the left and a scrollable release list on the right — both fit on screen without scrolling. Click any product to search for it in the Current Prices tab.

Mobile layout

On mobile the monthly grid is hidden. Only the release list is shown — scroll through Upcoming and Past releases.

Sport filter

Use the sport buttons above the release list to filter by Baseball, Basketball, Football, Hockey, and more. Click All to reset.

Action buttons per product

  • Search Here — searches the product in the Current Prices tab using the exact name retailers recognize.
  • Checklist ↗ — opens the full checklist for that product.
  • Pre-order ↗ — opens a retailer pre-order page when available.
Sync the calendar from the Admin tab to pull the latest releases. The calendar does not update automatically.

🔔 Price Alerts

Get an email when a product drops to or below your target price.

Setting an alert

  1. Find the product on the Current Prices tab.
  2. Click the bell icon on that row.
  3. Enter your target price and email address.
  4. Click Save Alert.

You can set multiple alerts on the same product at different thresholds. Existing alerts are shown in the modal so you can review or delete them.

Alerts only fire when prices are refreshed. If no one refreshes a product, you won't be notified even if a retailer drops their price.

💬 Team Chat

Discuss specific products with your team without leaving the app. Messages are tied to a product and visible to all teammates on the same team.

Opening chat

Click the chat bubble icon on any product row. The panel slides in from the right showing the message history for that product.

Switching teams

If you belong to more than one team, a row of team buttons appears at the top of the chat panel. Click a team to switch which channel you're viewing and sending to.

Message not showing up for a teammate? Make sure you're both viewing the same team channel — the active team is highlighted in gold in the team bar.

📌 Pinned Products

Pins give you one-tap access to the products you check most often.

  • Click the pin icon on any product to pin it. Click again to unpin.
  • Pinned products appear as chips just below the tab bar on all tabs.
  • Click a chip to jump directly to that product's detail view.
  • Pins are personal — your teammates won't see your pin list.

The pin strip scrolls horizontally if you have more pins than fit on screen.

🛍️ Push to Store

Connect your Shopify or WooCommerce store and push product listings directly from Wax Intel. Listings are created as drafts so you can review and publish them on your own schedule.

Connecting a store

  1. Click Stores in the app header to open Store Settings.
  2. Choose your platform — Shopify or WooCommerce.
  3. Enter your store credentials (see platform setup below).
  4. Click Save Store.

Shopify setup

  1. In Shopify Admin go to Settings → Apps → Develop apps.
  2. Create a custom app and go to its Configuration tab.
  3. Under "Admin API access scopes" enable write_products. Save.
  4. Go to the API credentials tab and install the app to generate an access token.
  5. Copy the token and paste it into Wax Intel Store Settings.
Use your .myshopify.com domain — not your custom domain. Custom domains do not work with the Shopify API. Find it in Shopify Admin → Settings → Domains.

WooCommerce setup

  1. In WordPress Admin go to WooCommerce → Settings → Advanced → REST API.
  2. Click Add key, set permissions to Read/Write, and generate.
  3. Copy the Consumer Key and Consumer Secret into Wax Intel Store Settings.

Pushing a listing

  1. On any tracked product, click 🛍️ Push to Store in the research bar.
  2. The modal loads the product title, SKU, and fetches the description automatically.
  3. Edit the description if needed, then select which store(s) to push to.
  4. Click Push as Draft. A link to the draft appears when complete.

Team stores

If a teammate connects their store, it becomes available to everyone on the team. You'll see their name next to the store in the Push to Store modal.

What gets pushed: product title, description (pack config, box odds, cards to chase), SKU/UPC, and the product box image when available. The listing is created as a draft — price, categories, and publishing are handled on your store.

💡 Tips & Tricks

  • Use the calendar as a discovery tool. Find an upcoming release on the calendar and click Search Here — it uses the exact name retailers recognize, saving you from bad search results.
  • eBay Sold is the best price signal. Retailer prices tell you what you can buy today. eBay sold tells you what people actually paid. Compare both before deciding.
  • Copy Description before listing. Hit 📋 Copy Description on any tracked product to instantly copy the box configuration and cards-to-chase info for your store listing or social post.
  • Pin your watchlist. If you're watching a product waiting for a price drop, pin it so it's one tap away when you check in.
  • Skip slow retailers. During a price refresh, hit Skip if a retailer is hanging. You can always come back and refresh that retailer separately.
  • Checklist ↗ before you buy. Use the Checklist link on calendar entries to review base set size, autograph odds, and parallels before committing to a case.

FAQ

How often are prices updated?

Prices update when someone clicks the refresh button on a product. There is no automatic background polling — this keeps the site fast and avoids being blocked by retailers.

Why is a retailer showing a dash (—)?

That retailer either doesn't carry the product, is sold out, or hasn't been refreshed recently. Try refreshing to get a current reading.

Why does the eBay link sometimes return irrelevant results?

eBay search is keyword-based. The link already excludes break-related listings but generic product names can still pull in unrelated items. Shortening the search term usually helps.

The calendar shows a release date but I've seen a different date elsewhere.

Release dates shift constantly in this hobby. When our sources agree the date is reliable. When they conflict , treat it as an estimate and check the retailer closer to release.

Can I add a product to the tracked list myself?

Product additions are managed from the Admin tab, available to subscribers. If you don't see the Admin tab, contact your team admin.

My chat message isn't visible to a teammate.

Both of you need to be on the same team and viewing the same product's chat. Check the team switcher at the top of the chat panel — the active team is highlighted in gold.

The Push to Store button says my Shopify token doesn't have write_products scope.

In Shopify Admin, go to your custom app → Configuration tab → add write_products under Admin API access scopes → Save → then go to API credentials and reinstall the app. This generates a new token. Update the token in Wax Intel Store Settings.

Can teammates use my connected store?

Yes. Any store connection you add is visible to all teammates on your team. Their name appears next to your store in the Push to Store modal.
